SolarWinds MSP RPC Server 1.3

SolarWinds MSP RPC Server is a background Windows service installed alongside the SolarWinds MSP remote monitoring and management (RMM) agent. It provides a secure Remote Procedure Call (RPC) interface that lets the agent and its modules communicate reliably, coordinate tasks, and exchange data with the management platform.

By brokering commands and results between local components and the cloud console, it enables core RMM capabilities, including:

• Running system and health checks, and collecting device inventory
• Executing automation scripts and scheduled maintenance tasks
• Managing patching and other optional service modules
• Supporting remote troubleshooting tools initiated by administrators

The service starts with the operating system, runs without a user interface, and is designed for stability and low resource usage. It updates automatically with the agent and writes diagnostics to the agent’s standard log locations. For managed endpoints, the service should remain enabled; stopping or removing it can disrupt monitoring, automation, and remote management functions.
